  9.         WHAT IS 'ELSEWARE'?
  10.  
  11.         ELSEWARE is a set of programs which will allow you to use
  12.         your PC from anywhere. ELSEWARE is identical to commercially 
  13.         available software which makes the same claim with one important
  14.         exception...
  15.  
  16.         ELSEWARE is free.
  17.  
  18.         One of my responsibilities is to write and support voice
  19.         response and recognition software. Most of the systems
  20.         are on the other side of the country and finding the right
  21.         remote access software was very important.
  22.         
  23.         What I discovered is that all the programs available commercially
  24.         which allow you to use a PC from remote take up too much memory
  25.         and are too sluggish. Some of the voice response systems
  26.         would not leave enough DOS CORE memory to allow any of the
  27.         commercial programs to load. There is also a general lack of
  28.         ability to control the time slicing with any of the commercial
  29.         programs and this is something I had to have in order to support
  30.         certain voice response systems remotely.

  32.         So I wrote my own and have used it successfully ever since.

  34.         The EWH.EXE host module requires ONLY 8K ( 8000 bytes! ) and 
  35.         is as fast if not FASTER than any commercial remote access 
  36.         software I have tried.

  38.         If you are looking for fancy help screens and setup screens
  39.         then you can wait for a new release of ELSEWARE. This release
  40.         is the version I have been using for quite some time and
  41.         it includes only what's necessary to get the job done. That's
  42.         all I need and I am assuming there are others out there
  43.         who have the same minimum requirements.

  45.         ELSEWARE is FREEWARE, not SHAREWARE. You can copy and distribute
  46.         it as freely as you like. No strings attached. It has served
  47.         me well and I hope it will do the same for you.

  49.         PRINTING THE DOCUMENTATION
  50.  
  51.         The documentation is in plain ASCII format and contains
  52.         FORM FEED characters.
  53.  
  54.         Just use 'COPY EW.DOC PRN' to send the documentation to
  55.         the printer. The files should end up on paper properly
  56.         paginated and ready to be punched with holes on the left.
